My intention for this blog

My intention for this blog

My intention for this blog was to challenge myself. To see if I could try something that I’d been wanting to partake in for so long. I wanted to share something with the world. Something that I’d been putting off because I didn’t feel I was interesting enough, or good enough to even step onto the field that others had been playing on and mastered for years already.

But I had to put that fear aside. I HAD to FORGET about anyone reading what I wrote. I had to put my imaginings of other’s opinions out of my head if I was ever going to attempt this. Because otherwise I would get nowhere. Wallowing in self pity for too long. Never trying. That would be sadder and more painful than anything that could be said about my writing.

A traveling we will go

I wanted to share something with the world. A piece of my self. So I had the idea one night to write about something I loved, something that I knew a bit about, something that would never get old. That once we all have a taste of, we appreciate on so many levels – TRAVEL! Travel is my true passion.

So I started my travel blog – My Radical Exploration. I would finally have a way of showing my friends and family back home what I’d been doing. Instead of me trying to convey my day to day life of tubing through London and strolling through Dublin and other adventures  in an hour long skype call. It’s not possible. There will always be some disconnect there. This way they could read the detail in my words, see my photos, and maybe feel as if we were participating in each others lives a bit more. A bonus of my blog would be someone reading it and maybe feeling inspired to take a trip, or explore a new place they hadn’t considered before, or even just a bit of lunchtime escapism. Who doesn’t need that from their jobs sometimes?!

Let’s get Radical

“If you guide through anything other than your own example, it crosses over into the category of control. If you say, “This is what I’ve found that works for me, try it if you like.” That’s guidance. If you say, “This is what I’ve found works for me, and if you don’t follow it, you’re in trouble.” That’s control.“ – Abraham Hicks

I also wanted to write about another passion of mine, so I added the Radical part. I wanted to write about my personal growth and the lessons I’d learnt that got me truly living life. That started me on my path and the lessons I learnt along the way. I wanted to share the books, authors, teachers, leaders, guides, movies and ideas that have helped me to become who I am today. I believe they can help all of us. This may not be everybody’s cup of tea, not everyone is at the same stage, we’re all exactly where we are meant to be on our own paths, which I understand, which is why I made it separate from the travel bit. If it’s not your thing you can just skip to the travel! Yay!

So that is my intention, my reasoning, the theory behind my blog. If someone happens to read it then woohoo, bonus! But this is for me, for my own soul. Relearning how to get the creative juices flowing. Because life is just more fun that way.

And when we’re ready, when it’s the right time, hopefully I’ll meet you somewhere along the way.
